‘Out of this world’ packaging for Beavertown

Since its launch in 2011, Beavertown Brewery has grown from strength to strength. What started as homebrew experimenting in owner and founder Logan Plant’s kitchen, soon matured into a 450,000 hectolitre brewery.

The brewer’s relationship with Saxon Packaging started in 2013, when the packaging supplier produced Beavertown’s very first shipper case. Since then, the range of beer packaging solutions it has provided has grown substantially including various gift packs, fridge packs and standard (small pack) beer packaging solutions.

In February 2020, Saxon received a special enquiry from Sam Millard, brand manager at Beavertown, for a limited edition gift pack to celebrate an eighth birthday ‘special’ that would house eight 330 ml beer cans and a promotional glass. The packaging artwork provided by Beavertown showed off a rich black flood coat, garlanded with its creative typography and designs of an intergalactic theme. This eye catching artwork and structural packaging design houses the products perfectly and the addition of a tear strip to facilitate ease of opening gave this pack the extra special touch.

Due to the number of units required for this limited edition run, it was decided that digital printing was the optimum solution for the job.

Through the collaboration of Saxon’s in-group digital print arm at Display UK, it was able to print and die cut the corrugated cardboard sheets to the level of precision required in order to create the ‘out of this world’ look and feel for the packaging design.

‘With an initial quantity of 450 units, we were thrilled to learn that these special release limited edition beer packs were a great success,’ said  Mike Impson, sales director. ‘We have thoroughly enjoyed supporting Beavertown with its packaging solutions over the years and look forward to continue producing many more quality stand-out examples of packaging for the company.’

Sam Millard at Beavertown Brewery added, ‘We needed boxes sturdy enough to be posted direct to the consumer, speedy to assemble by hand but also have our trademark, bight, in your face design all over it. Kelly and Mike over at Saxon couldn’t have been more helpful, offering great solutions and turning around something that delivers on every level, in a tight timeframe. It is the kind of excellent service and levels of quality we have come to expect from Saxon, and we ended up with a finished product that really stands out.’
