Mermaid Gin found perfect packaging partner in Facer.

The Isle of Wight Distillery, known for its Mermaid brand, has just celebrated its 10th anniversary and a successful launch into the US market with a new spirits miniatures gift set.

The company partnered once again with Facer. Progressive Printed Packaging to bring the sustainable gift set to life and execute the vision of the brand evolution conceived by Perfect Day.

Isle of Wight Distillery co-founder, Xavier Baker, said: ‘At Mermaid, sustainability isn't an afterthought, it is the starting point for every decision we make, especially when it comes to packaging. Our partnership with Facer has been instrumental in turning that ambition into reality. It shares our belief that recyclability, responsible sourcing and minimal environmental impact should sit at the heart of great design.

‘By reducing cardboard volume and avoiding unnecessary packaging, we are lowering our carbon footprint and minimising waste, small but meaningful steps that help protect the ecosystems we all depend on.’

Having relaunched the primary packaging in 2019, Isle of Wight Distillery was accredited as plastic free by A Plastic Planet, whilst partnering with Surfers Against Sewage to fight water pollution across the UK.

In the same year, Facer. brought its first plastic free blister pack to the UK market whilst becoming a World Land Trust Certified Carbon Balanced Printer.

The Mermaid miniatures gift set is a World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Pack, balancing the equivalent of 4796 kg of CO2e to date, enabling World Land Trust to protect 917 m2 of critically threatened tropical forest.

Made of monomaterial, printed with vegetable oil based inks and water based coatings, fully recyclable. Both the outer carton and inner fitment yield from the same production sheet of Billerud CrownBoard Prestige with minimal waste.
