Folbb launches heat resistant ‘Excellent Top Pure Oven Freeze Grease III’ GC2 cartonboard

Folbb has introduced Excellent Top Pure Oven Freeze Grease III: an advanced hard sized GC2 cartonboard designed for food applications that go directly from freezer to oven or microwave.

This innovative board combines excellent heat resistance with an integrated grease and moisture barrier, ensuring reliable performance without the need for additional coatings or layers. It supports packaging integrity, prevents grease stains and maintains food quality under demanding conditions.

Excellent Top Pure Oven Freeze Grease III complies with BfR XXXVI/2 requirements for direct food contact and withstands 200°C for up to 60 minutes or 220°C for 30 minutes in the oven, while also being suitable for microwave use up to five minutes at 800 watts. This makes it ideal for applications such as ready meals, frozen foods, bakery trays and takeaway packaging.

The built-in barrier can eliminate the need for additional PE or PET layers, offering a more sustainable approach while enhancing overall cost efficiency. At the same time, it enables streamlined packaging structures and supports recyclability.

This product is ideally positioned to meet the growing demand for premium convenience food, combining convenience and speed with the high quality experience consumers expect. Furthermore, its highly recyclable packaging aligns with the objectives of the PPWR, supporting the transition towards a more circular packaging economy.

Produced at the Baiersbronn mill, the cartonboard is made from virgin fibres, contains no optical brightening agents (OBAs) and no added PFAS, and is fully recyclable and biodegradable.
